Promoting Women in Business: A Project for Azerbaijan
March 25 - 29, 2015
About Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is located in southwestern Asia and is best known for its highly profitable oil reserve. Pumping over a million barrels of oil daily, the reserve is a huge attraction for international business and investment. In 1994, the oil rich country signed the "contract of the century" with thirteen companies abroad. Since then, Azerbaijan has seen major economic growth due to their success in oil exploration and exportation [1]. The country's increased revenues have been invested into new government-funded international projects which have made Azerbaijan an international presence, not only economically but also culturally. In 2015, the country hosted the first ever Baku European Games [2]. Azerbaijan is one of the most important locations for oil exploration and will continue to see economic growth and opportunity within the years to come.
