HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Travel the U.S. and Learn Alongside Iraqi Students in 4 Week Leadership Excha

Want to Develop your leadership skills, travel the U.S., and expand your worldview?

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to spend 4 unforgettable weeks traveling the US and and learning alongside some of the brightest teens from across Iraq!

The Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) is a four-week U.S. based program bringing together 12 US and 27 Iraqi high school students. You will develop great friendships as well as cross-cultural communication competency, leadership skills, time management, project creation and implementation, and a lot more.

The program starts in Vermont, with the U.S. students arriving first, then joined by the Iraqi participants. Here you will build community and break barriers through dialogue, teambuilding and workshops.

Afterward you will travel to a different city in the USA for a two-week host community stay. While in that city you will look at youth engagement in each city and see the skills you learned in action. You and an Iraqi student will stay in a host family during that time.

Finally you will end with a week in Washington D.C. where you will create a project and plan it from start to finish, all while seeing the capital of the U.S.A. and learning about narratives, civic action and diplomacy.

This program fosters a range of life skills and friendships, and is fully sponsored by the Department of State.
