Saudi Arabia - Improving Social Services
GlobalJax will be working with leading members of Saudi Arabia to explore models of effective social work and social services programs. While here they will learn new approaches to care for vulnerable children and dive into methodologies for the care of adults, as well as the elderly experiencing physical or mental limitations. This project will open up a discussion on how social programs here in the US help adults with disabilities improve their quality of life, attain their greatest possible levels of self-sufficiency, and enjoy meaningful inclusion within their communities. This project will aide efforts by these Saudi leaders reach their goal of attaining biopsychosocial-economic well-being among it's citizens who currently experience systematic marginalization.
To achieve these goals our visitors will be touring home care facilities and participating in workshops on how to care for adults with disabilities. Our guests will also have an opportunity to meet with organizations such as Family Support Services of Northeast Florida, Florida Department of Children and Families, and UNF Department of Social Work to discuss our policies and regulations in place to secure the well-being of children, families, and other members of the community.
Saudi Arabia's Family Affairs Council main focus is working to “strengthen the status and role of the family in society, within efforts to integrate family policies into national frameworks for sustainable development” was stated last year. The Quality of Life Program 2020 encourages a healthier and happier lifestyle for its inhabitants. This includes working harder in providing services to people with disabilities and special needs.
