Government Relations Internships


The Government Relations Internship Program is designed for college students exploring and building careers in international studies, relations and development. Primary duties will include drafting proposals for government exchange programs, community outreach, advocacy to Capitol Hill and Tallahassee, and interacting with emerging and established leaders from around the world. Depending on their backgrounds, skills, and interests, interns may work with other members of the GlobalJax staff and board on special projects, fundraising as well as daily administrative functions.

Qualifications (applicants should have most of the following qualifications):

  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience with MS Office (Access, Word, & Excel) and strong typing ability

  • Passion for citizen diplomacy, public diplomacy, international education and exchange

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Event planning background/interest

  • Flexibility and willingness to work beyond the parameters of a job description

  • Maturity and a sense of humor

  • All majors are welcome

Details:

  • Start and end dates are flexible and based on the intern’s academic calendar

  • Hours and days can be negotiated, but interns are preferred to work on a regular schedule

  • This is an unpaid position and intended for students interested in public policy and international relations

  • Both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are welcome to apply
