Philippines: Developing Infrastructure for Economic Growth

May 5-9, 2018

About the Project:

Participants will learn about U.S. infrastructure projects and how the U.S assures high quality within its projects. Currently, the Philippines is trying to expand their infrastructure to increase productive capacity of the economy, create jobs, increase incomes, and strengthen the investment climate leading to sustained inclusive growth. Meanwhile, Jacksonville has The Better Jacksonville Plan (BJP) that serves to address and fund the city’s infrastructure needs. The representatives from the Philippines will examine current projects, as well as the key strategies for working with community stakeholders to maintain fair and transparent bidding processes for large-scale projects. Places that the delegates will explore include the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), The Florida Times Union’s J Magazine, Jacksonville’s Public Accountability Office, the Downtown Investment Authority and more to learn about infrastructure within the city.
