Going Global Summit
The most effective way to change the world is to educate and inspire the next generation. Going Global Summits on Citizen Diplomacy are designed to expose the realities of the global marketplace. Each event includes discussions on the local impact of globalization, the responsibilities of global citizens, the skills necessary to compete in a global economy, along with many opportunities to pursue international careers and business relationships.
These Summits are initiated through a seed grant from the National Council for International Visitors and supported by community sponsors. Past event sponsors include The Jacksonville Port Authority, The Haskell Company, University of North Florida (UNF), Duval County Public Schools (DCPS), Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), Farah and Farah, ICS Logistics, Southside Rotary Club, Visit Jacksonville, and Alpha Graphics.
Going Global Student Summits
Now a semi-annual event, daylong Student Summits on Citizen Diplomacy bring local students and community leaders together for an engaging dialogue about globalization. Students are chosen from area high schools and local colleges to explore their interest in the future of international business.
Going Global Community Summit
The next Going Global Community Summit on Citizen Diplomacy is planned for November 2011. The event will bring key leaders from the international community together with elected officials for a series of discussions on the global future of the region and how government, business and the non-profit sector can partner together with citizens to ensure Jacksonville reaches its potential as an internationally recognized city.
