It was a sad day when Madeline Belvin, our formidable program director, decided to take a job in DC just weeks after our past Executive Director, Sondie Frus, officially retired. I was sure we would never be able to fill their shoes, and though that has been true to a certain extent, we have a lot of great help here in the office this semester. Today I’d like to feature Scott Johnson who is currently working as our Visitor Program Assistant.

Have you heard of the Faroe Islands? I hadn’t prior to attending the Green Living Summer Camp in Tvøroyri. Conveniently placed (sarcasm of course) in the cold North Atlantic, the Faroe Islands graciously hosted delegations from Germany, Norway, France, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Spain and the US.

Ever since I joined CISV five years ago, I would always hear the older, cooler CISVers talk about how awesome being a Junior Counselor was. However, I didn’t start obsessing about the opportunity until after my Interchange. We had a junior leader, Jerry, who possessed the perfect combination of energy, patience, and CISV spirit to inspire and motivate our group. He taught all of us so much. It’s practically impossible to imagine the dynamic of our group without him.
